Celebrating the Holidays in Rancho Santa Fe

The countdown to Christmas has begun, and Rancho Santa Fe is ready to celebrate! From ice-skating to christmas tree lightings and holiday-themed menus, Rancho Santa Fe has got it all, and you don’t want to miss out. We’ve done the research for you and found some activities to get you in the holiday spirit. Here are some Rancho Santa Fe events you definitely want to put in your calendar:

  1. Rancho Santa Fe Village Church: Alternative Christmas Market
  2. This holiday season, the Rancho Santa Fe Village Church will be hosting an “Alternative Christmas Market” to support charitable causes. Said Reverend Dr. Jan Farley: “All of us have been blessed with much. As we receive and give gifts this holiday season and enjoy feats and parties, there are so many children and families right here in North County and around the world who struggle to put food on the table.” Opportunities to contribute include donating financial gifts to provide micro-financing for families in the Global South, support the military and their families at Camp Pendleton, and help the cost of building an orphanage and school in Kenya or a women’s literacy program in India. “Because the Village Church has had a long relationship with many of these organizations, we frequently send mission teams to these various communities. Reading about these ministries in the Alternative Christmas Market catalog is an excellent way for community members to find out more about these partners, and maybe even join us in the future for one of these trips,” said the Reverend. Those who are interested can browse the brochure on the church website and make their donations by the 21st.

At The Inn, hospitality is a tradition, so it is no surprise that the luxury hotel will be hosting some festive activities with warmth and charm. From December 5th to January 4th, the Inn will have an ice-skating rink under beautiful Christmas lights and a twenty-foot tree. Christmas Eve will feature a three-course tasting menu created by Executive Chef Todd Allison, accompanied by delightful Christmas harmonies by The Full Measure Carolers. Don’t feel like cooking on Christmas Day? Not to worry! The Inn will be hosting a traditional holiday buffet for all families, couples and friends!

  5. Helen Woodward Animal Center: Frosty Farm
  6. Join the Helen Woodward Animal Center for furry friends and lots of fun! The Center’s “Frosty Farm” is open every weekend until the 21st, and is a great chance for families to take pictures with Santa and his miniature horse “reindeer.” Other holiday activities include faux snow, cookie decorating, face painting, crafts, a hot chocolate station, photo booth, and of course, animal encounters! You may even get the chance to meet Pebbles, a Vietnamese pot-bellied pig who joined the shelter in July. This holiday hog will be an ‘oink’-standing animal greeter at Helen Woodward’s Frosty Farm. For more information on Helen Woodward’s Frosty Farm, contact Santa’s Workshop (a.k.a the Education Department) at education(at)animalcenter(dotted)org or 858.756.4117 ext. 318.
